Sabbatical takes her first BIG trip....to Manchester !!!!!!

August 30, 2006

Ahoy Ahoy to all you Landlubbers.......

Jenn and I accomplished our first sail to Manchester last weekend.................sail up on Friday was A +
The Capt woke her crew up at the crack of dawn because I didn't want to arrive in Manchester after dark
(Jenn was surprisingly compliant with the plan ).

we brought the boat over to the Provincetown pier........to prepare her for the big trip.
Jenn and David lashed the inflatable dinghy to the foredeck. It could work as a life raft too!!!

weather was........ok, we could see a huge dark rain system .........right over Cape Ann as we left. This shot is looking east tho at 8am , for those of you who catch such things..............

So, we begin our excellent adventure. Its raining.....but who cares? The breeze is 10 knots on the starboard bow , we will fly to Manchester!!!! Cheri is happy...boat is doing 6-7 knots !!

We saw whales..........ok, ok I couldn't photo the whales.....but we saw them!!!!

we saw a regatta off of Marblehead..........

and at last .......we saw the G1 buoy at Newcomb Ledge..... the entrance to Salem Sound which is the "we are almost there" point. You will note its raining nicely at this point.

Manchester Yacht Club answers on the radio (after a few tense moments of silence ....cheri has a panic attack !!!!) that they will meet us at the Club and take us to our mooring . Here is Jenn after her successful capture of the mooring pennant. We are "parked". And its about 5pm . Pretty darn good I say.

The Captain can rest !!!!

next installment to come, some bat time, same bat channel......................!!!!!! Cheri & Jenn
